Our backcountry cabins make a great weekend getaway for groups, families, or individuals. With over thirty miles of trails on 3,100 acres and a working farm, you’ll surely find something to enjoy during your stay.
Basics:
Each cabin has a different floor plan; the larger cabins will accommodate up to twelve people. All cabins contain a table, wood stove, wooden bunks; outhouses are located nearby. Some cabins have space for tents.
Locations:
All of the cabins at Merck Forest are accessed by foot; distances are measured from the Visitor Center parking area.
Booking Details:
- Current members receive a 20% discount off cabin rentals. Simply indicate on the checkout page that your membership is current and that you’d like your discount applied.
- Not a current member? Add a membership to your cart, and indicate that you’d like your discount.
- If the ordering screen is slow to load the calendar, please exit the website and clear your computer’s browser history. Call us at 802-394-2577 if you continue to have problems.
- Stove-wood is stacked at each cabin for heating (not cooking) during the cold months (October 1 – April 30). An extra $15 is automatically incorporated in the rental fee; this $15 not discounted for members.
- LIMITED CAMPING AVAILABILITY IN NOVEMBER
- Each change or cancellation is subject to a $20 administrative fee.

Viewpoint Cabin
Our smallest cabin, Viewpoint sits atop a woodland meadow with lovely views to the west.
Sleeps 1 comfortably or 2 very snugly. Space for 4 tents nearby.

Clark's Clearing Cabin
Our oldest cabin is now our newest! Totally renovated, insulated and fitted with a skylight, it should be cozy on cold winter nights.

Tucked in the woods at the edge of a field with outstanding views of Bear Mountain and Mount Equinox. Great for star gazing.
