Volunteer Opportunities

We are thrilled that you would like to volunteer with us. Because Merck Forest and Farmland Center (MFFC) is non-profit and membership-dependent, a donation of your time as a volunteer is a wonderful way to show your support of our organization.

MFFC has several options available for volunteers:

MFFC has about 30 miles of trails and roads. Along with cabin rentals and our farm, the trail system is a major draw for visitors. With limited staff, it is a challenge to keep them all clear and in good shape. Our trail volunteer program offers a variety of ways to help maintain trails: Day of Service and solo trail scouting. The 60-acre farm is the most intensely managed part of our landscape and the animals require daily attention. Volunteers help with daily chores, seasonal farm tasks, large projects or infrastructure improvements. The diverse nature of farm work means that there is an opportunity for everyone to contribute, no matter their skill or comfort level. Click here for more information about Farm Volunteering.

Visitor Center & Special Events

Helping out our Visitor Center staff with grounds maintenance and gardening is a great way to get involved at MFFC. We also have two annual events where volunteers play a major role; the Maple Celebration in March and the Sheep Dog Trials in September. Click here for more information about Visitor Center and Special Event Volunteering.

We would love to have you volunteer with us. Please let us know which option appeals most to you by emailing the contact person in the area(s) where you would like to volunteer. Thanks for your support and we look forward to hearing from you!
